How to sell stuff online in Ireland and get a better price
Updated 20 October 2026. 5 minute read.
Two similar items can sell at very different speeds. The difference is usually the photos, the title and the price.
Take good photos
Use daylight, clean the item and shoot against a plain background. Take a clear front shot first, then close ups of labels, wear and any damage. Buyers trust sellers who show flaws honestly.
Add up to 12 photos. The first photo matters most because it is what shows in search.
Write a clear title and description
Put the brand, model and size in the title, such as "Trek FX 2 hybrid bike, 54cm". Mention age, condition, any faults and what is included. Say whether you can post it or only offer collection.
Avoid all capitals and vague words like "great condition". Be specific so buyers do not need to ask.
Price it fairly
Search for similar items and see what real ones sell for, not just what sellers ask. Price slightly above what you would accept if you are open to offers, or say "open to offers" in the listing.
If it does not sell, lower the price a little or refresh the photos before you relist.
Reply quickly and stay safe
Fast replies win sales. Keep chat on the site, meet in a public place and accept cash on collection. Never accept payment you cannot see in your account and never post an item before the money has arrived.
