Selling
Is it free to list?
Yes. Listings are free for private sellers. Optional promotion features may be added later.
How long does a listing last?
Listings last 60 days. We send a reminder email before it ends and you can renew it from your account.
What is a trader?
If you sell as part of a business you must register as a trader. Your business name and address are shown on your listings, as EU consumer law requires.
How do auctions work?
Choose Auction under price when you list. Set a starting bid, an optional reserve and how long it runs, from 1 to 14 days. The highest bid wins when time runs out. A bid in the last 5 minutes adds 5 minutes. The winner and seller are put in touch by message, and the winner pays the seller in cash on collection.
What happens if the reserve is not met?
There is no winner and nothing has to be sold. Buyers can see whether the reserve has been met, but not the amount. The seller can edit the listing and run it again.
Is a bid binding?
Yes. A winning bid is a promise to buy, so only bid if you mean it. Bids cannot be withdrawn, and we can switch off bidding for accounts that win and then do not follow through.
How many photos can I add?
Up to 12 photos, 8MB each. We resize them and remove location data from them for your privacy.
Buying and messaging
Can buyers see my email or phone number?
No. Messaging happens on the site. You can choose to show a phone number on your profile, but it is off by default.
How do I pay?
SellNow.ie does not handle payments. Pay the seller in person when you collect the item, and never send money in advance to a stranger.
How do I report a listing or a user?
Use the report link on the listing, profile or message. Our moderators review every report.
Your account
What do the verification badges mean?
A badge shows the seller has confirmed their email address or phone number. ID verification will be added later.
Why was my listing removed?
It may have broken our prohibited items rules or looked like a duplicate. Contact us if you think it was a mistake.
How do I export or delete my data?
You can download your data or delete your account from account settings.
