What to check when buying second hand PlayStation consoles and games

  • Test the console on collection: check it powers on, reads discs and connects to your Wi-Fi and a screen.
  • Check the account is signed out and the console is reset, so it is not still linked to the seller.
  • Check controllers for stick drift and make sure all cables are included.

Common questions

Can a used console be banned?

Rarely, but ask the seller to confirm the console has not been banned online and has been removed from their account.

Disc or digital edition?

Disc editions let you buy and resell games, which is better value second hand. Digital editions are cheaper but tie you to the store.
